Taking excess amounts of water from the natural environmental can be highly detrimental to both ecosystems in the area, as well as people. As the water table gets lowered over time (which it will), wells will become less efficient, and streams may exhibit less flow. Not to mention that companies such as Nestle are paying peanuts for the amount of water that they're taking, and the amount of money they're making from it. Taking of mass amounts of water from the environment such as this should be charged at a premium, given the effects it has on the natural environment, or not done at all.
