Bill 5 absolutely must not be passed. It very blatantly disregards and disrespects the rights of First Nations regarding resource and other development, it undoes decades of important progress in protecting and respecting the natural environment that we are part of and depend on for current and future health, and it silences the voices of scientists and other citizens. This is a blatant power grab and gutting of important guardrails that have been established for serious reasons. It will enable the Ford government and it’s cronies to ram through resource extraction and development projects Trump style. As a biologist, educator, ally of our First Nations partners, and Ontario citizen who values our democracy I find this Bill 5 to be totally reprehensible. It must not pass.
