I am very concerned: Just before the Easter weekend Doug Ford introduced Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing the Economy Act. This legislation would allow anyone that the premier or the cabinet chooses to evade a huge range of provincial and municipal laws. It would repeal the Endangered Species Act and empower the premier to restrict wind and solar development. Laws are passed with foresight and good judgment. Not observing these laws will add to othe destruction of our beautiful environment. You don't want to be thought of as a predator for our native life and hurting our common habitat. Don't.
Most concerning is: Bill 5 is an unprecedented attack on Ontario's endangered species, environmental protection. I feel we need
1. strong environmental protections for endangered species,
2. I strongly oppose shortcuts for industry eliminating public oversight,
3. and strongly oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
We have strong voices in: Eco Justice, Ontario Nature, Environmental Defence. Please listen to their warnings.
Thank you.
