I am very concerned about…

I am very concerned about the proposed land variance requests for Winnetka lake for the following reasons
1. It would limit access to multiple interconnected land trails that have been used by all members of this small lake community for well over 20 years. The land has been used by all, in many ways, for a long time. It is used to explore, maintain the land, to maintain trails, and most importantly foster a deep respect and love for the beauty of the natural environment. It has always been shared land used by all, and these variance requests would absolutely change how the land is being used by all members of the community.
2. By allowing more land to be developed greatly increases the chances of wildfires in the proposed area. This is of a great concern considering the impact it would have not only on the lake community but potentially a much larger scale.
3. Part of the proposed land variance requests would allow an area referred to as “the point” to be owned by the Co-op. This piece of land has also always been a space used by all members of the lake community. It can be reached by kayak, paddle board or be swum out to. It can be fished off of, and is a fun area to explore with young children or sit and enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area, as both lakes are visible from it. If this piece of land is owned by a small group of people it would be inaccessible to all who have historically used it, and also risks being overdeveloped, thus taking away the natural beauty of the area.

Please do not allow these 3 variance requests to go through. The impact would be negatively felt by all members of the community now, and in the future.
