I request that an environmental assessment be conducted for mining activities, regardless of what Bill 5 says. Environmental assessments exist so that a project understands all possible adverse impacts on the environment, which sustains us all. E.g., if a mining project is going to cause a lot of pollution to a water source, that will cause contamination to drinking water to animals and humans, which will negatively affect health and put more strain on our health services. Environmental assessments also involve talking with those who might be affect; these people often know key info that can make or break a project. Only when a project understands all impacts, can it proceed to its full potential. It will cost less and be more respectful to follow proper procedures.
