I completely understand the need for more care facilities as our population ages, but I have some real concerns about the size and location of this proposal:
• Environmental impact: A building this tall and dense would totally change the natural skyline and could seriously disrupt nearby ecosystems. It’s right next to a nature reserve, which puts local wildlife at risk and could cause lasting environmental damage.
• Visual disruption: A 38-storey tower would stick out like a sore thumb. It would overshadow the natural beauty of the area and take away from what makes the reserve so peaceful and enjoyable for the community.
• Traffic and infrastructure: Something this big is bound to bring way more traffic and pressure on roads and local services. It could even make it harder for people to access and enjoy the nature reserve.
• Setting a precedent: If this project goes ahead, it might pave the way for even more large-scale developments in sensitive areas, which is a slippery slope.
• Doesn’t fit local planning goals: This just doesn’t seem to line up with the city’s priorities around protecting the environment, keeping the community feel, and planning sustainably.
So I’m asking the planning team to either reject this proposal or push for big changes that make it more reasonable in size and better suited to the area. Once we lose our natural spaces, we can’t get them back — protecting them has to come first.
