I understand that industry cannot change as quickly as needed. However, the proposed changes do not satisfactorily address the urgent nature of the climate catastrophe that is approaching. Ideally, the Ontario government is prioritizing a timely industrial transition to more sustainable and less environmentally damaging ways of doing business. Any savings that might be passed on to me as a taxpayer will not influence me to vote for a government that does not address recycling / waste management in a healthy, sustainable manner. My vote is for higher taxes and less carbon emissions. Delaying recovery, delaying expansion of recovery programs and incinerating recyclable materials does not address the urgent nature of the changes that are needed and should be supported.
