I want plastic waste…

I want plastic waste producers to stick to the 2021 plan to reduce the amount of plastic waste contaminating our environment.

I want more, not less, management of "flexible" plastic packaging (like food wrap, pouches and bags). Manufacturers say they are expensive and "challenging" to recycle - but rather than eliminating this packaging, they argue that we should just stop trying, and reduce the recovery target from 25%, agreed upon in 2021, to just 5%. This is wrong.

As well, I want recycling programs extended to schools, multi-unit residential buildings, long-term care and retirement homes. Don't listen to plastic packaging manufacturers, who promised to pay for this in 2021, but now say that it's too expensive.

I want beverage producers to be responsible for picking up beverage containers consumed "away from home" e.g. from parks and mall bins. Producers knew, back in 2021, they would have to do this starting in 2026, but now argue that it "may not be cost effective". I don't really care if it's cost effective. They produce the waste and they should keep their promise to deal with it.

Lastly, I am opposed to burning plastics (so-called "energy Recovery"), especially if it is to be counted as "the fourth R".
