I felt extremely disappointed reading this proposal. It is more critical than ever to protect natural land and it's disheartening to read that highway expansion is being prioritized over our environment. There are no links or attachments required to support the key point that our environment is of utmost priority and should be treated as such. Nothing should jeopardize that. It's that simple.

The proposal states "Since there are no alternative methods to remove land from a provincial park boundary, amending Ontario Regulation 316/07 under the PPCRA is the sole available option." There is another option available, which was apparently not even considered. That option would be to refuse to remove land from a provincial park for the purposes of highway expansion, railway expansion, or landfill room.

Any highway corridor, railway, and landfill is already extremely disruptive to wildlife and ecological systems. Removing protections on any amount of land is counterproductive to supporting and protecting our environment. What happens when another two lanes of highway are "required"? What happens when the landfill is full and "needs" more land.

There's an opportunity to set a precedent here that our natural lands will remain protected, rather than using these lands as merely an opportunity for further transport and waste development projects.
