I wish to support the current incentive plan towards Electric Vehicles as it would help me make the move to an environmentally responsible choice towards transportation.
My hopes are that the incentives moving forward include;
Extend incentives (through to at least 2020-2024); This would help me convert both of my vehicles to EV.
Maintain the current incentives offered
Add an "equalizer" rebate regarding the fluctuating USD vs CND dollar.
Reduce sales taxes on EV's
Add a provision to the Green Plate program that allows EV's to only have one (rear) license plate as the aerodynamics of the vehicle contribute to it's efficiency.
Increase the charging rebate for home chargers/charging installation
Offer reduced/free home charging at night for EV cars
I would also like to see a Carbon Tax placed on the purchase of new gasoline powered vehicles as well as a Carbon Tax placed on the Automakers for every car that isn't a hybrid or EV.
Extend a carbon tax to the Gasoline companies.
Require Gas stations to offer EV charging.
The incentive program IS the reason I'm able to make the leap to an Electric Vehicle. My efforts to be environmentally responsible and reduce my carbon foot print are paramount. Choosing to replace my current vehicle to an EV will have the greatest impact on the reduction of my Carbon foot print. The current incentive program is excellent and I can only hope it stays in effect until I can take delivery of my EV. If it doesn't it would have a great impact on what my choices will be in the future. I am very conscience of my choices and the effects the planet. As EV popularity grows it will be the leading force to combat Global climate change.
