Grundy Provincial Park and…

Comment

Grundy Provincial Park and The French River Provincial Park are (2) of the most beautiful places I have had the pleasure of visiting in this province.

They have provided countless memories for myself and my family and have provided us with teaching opportunities for our children and neice and nephew on respecting and interacting with the environment in a sustainable way.

To hear that land will be taken from these parks, without any thought or assessment to the wildlife in the area (this is a huge region for the endangered Massasuga Rattler) as well as the environmental impact this will have is short sighted.

Canada is striving for 30 by 2030 (30% protected park lands by 2030) and this proposal just sends us in the wrong direction.

More planning and assessment to the wildlife and environmental impact should be performed prior to proceed with a project of this scale, as well as adding area/land to the park lands to offset the land lost.

Consultanting local environmental and wildlife experts, as well as consultations with the indigenous (Anishinaabeg), who have treaty rights in Grundy Provincial park are a must. If expansion is needed, we must achieve it in a sustainable way, and in partnership with the Anishinaabeg people.

Road safety and expansion is well and good, when planed correctly for a sustainable future.

Let's keep these Ontario Gems intact for our future generations to see and learn from. Let's plan better for a more sustainable future between expansion/development and the impact on our environment.
