I came to understand from the presentation at the Searchmont community center that a lot of the safety measures for this waste water facility would be left to the ski resort to create and implement. I have first hand experience with the ski hills lack of regard for safety. Last I checked they didn't even have a health and safety representative, and anyone that questions anything that seems unsafe is just fired. They have zero respect for the well being of others, why should we trust that they will do what is best with this waste water treatment plant? All they care about is making more money. They causes power outages with how much power they drain when making snow. They drain the river from making snow at a time when we are already experiencing low water levels due to climate change. I wonder if the number of locals wells drying up has anything to do with the amount of water the ski hill drains from the river. They don't even treat the locals with respect and now they want to drain the river and fill it with waste.
Why don't they look into alternative waste management methods like a methane digester system? Then they can solve their excessive power usage issues because they could use the methane to make their own power. Our planet is already suffering from the damage humans are causing we can't keep making the same stupid choices, especially when we have smarter options. The proposed waste water treatment plant might work fine for a time and then something could go wrong and we lose a very important part of our ecosystem. It is not worth the risk. Other communities have made this mistake and suffer the consequences. Let's not repeat the same stupid mistakes.
