We can not afford to have our water table touched. My family lives within a few kilometres of the proposed quarry expansion and our water is already extremely fragile. We have invested thousands into water systems to allow us to have clean drinking water as our water was “the worst they have ever seen” as stated by Water Depot when they came to assess our water. The blasts from the dynamite would stir up sediment which would completely block and clog up the very expensive system we have had to invest in to have clean drinking water in our home. Our neighbors several times a year already have their well run dry and have had to get creative on how to maintain water to run their home.
Our homes, farm land and community can not afford to be the victim in this proposal. While money may speak to the greed that runs through humanity, may empathy, compassion and love for others speak louder. May clean water not be a luxury but rather a basic right to our community.
