The proposal from Strada to extract 5 million litres of water per day has absolutely no rationale attached. This pit has existed for 20 + years without the need of a wash station. This amendment is categorized as a Category 3: " a water taking with the highest potential for adverse environmental impacts."
We live in a very important watershed area that would be dramatically hurt by one company drawing huge amounts of water each day. Our wells would be at risk as well as the livelihood of all streams, rivers and ponds, south of the Strada Quarry.
There is no reason given for why Strada requires this amount of water. This would put farms, houses, animals at risk.
Strada has proven to be a company that is not trustworthy in their word. The Ministry of the Environment must NOT approve this application for 5 million litres per day until Strada submits a strong rationale for doing so.
