As a lifelong resident of Ontario, having been a renter in the 70s through to my first home purchase in 1988, and now as a landlord, I am APPALLED at the movement to effectively end rent control and allow for mass evictions of tenants to take place. This is not the way housing is supposed to work, and anyone who takes themself seriously as a Landlord should be opposed to Bill 60. There are too many lazy, absentee landlords who give the rest of us bad names, and this will only exacerbate the issue. I can't believe the Ontario government is meddling in landlord affairs, under the guise that this will 'unlock' housing. There are landlords with empty condos sitting and waiting for them to use them but they are all off living it up somewhere with lower grocery prices, and better Social Security Systems and Supports for SENIORS. Maybe if this government took the ageing population seriously, we would get somewhere. Listen to the people, I've been around long enough to know something about this market.
