Greetings,
My concerns relate to water quality and damage to the underlying aquifer, Strada is wanting more of our high quality drinking water to wash gravel, no they are are already allowed to use too much water, which should be reduced and better still revoked.
They should be required to (totally at their expense) build leak proof holding ponds and install a filtration system to clean their wash water, thus creating a closed loop recycling system including evaporation control.
Also an environmentally responsible plan that does not allow any discharge into water courses or ground water aquifers of the material that are washed from the gravel.
There should be 3rd party monitoring and testing to ensure that the above protocols are strictly adhered to.
Drinking quality water is a far more valuable resource than gravel, there are lots of recycled aggregate that need to be utilized instead of just mining more.
No matter the arguments we can not risk our most valuable resource , our drinking water.
Best regards
