Strada broke their promise very early on to the community of Horning's Mills. They promised that they would provide a comprehensive well test to all residents who signed up for it. They sent their own people to test the wells and yet no report was ever given to the home owner. We have asked for ours and have had nothing back in return. Then they didn't like what their expert hydrologist had to say so they promptly had him disappear. Fact is, they didn't like the truth...the truth that blasting below the water table will have devastating consequences. Not only can it impact wells in people's homes...taking away fresh drinking water, which every living being needs to survive. It will destroy a community. Who is going to be able to live in a place that has no viable drinking water...NO ONE! Essentially creating another Walkerton water tragedy. Destroying a thriving town where families are simply trying to raise their children in a town they know is safe. Yet, Strada wants to destroy that simply for greed and money. It's not only our water that is at risk...the impact to the environment and wildlife would also be extremely destructive. The pine river is a major tributary of the Nottawasaga River and flows all throughout Horning's Mills feeding many streams and ponds. This water sustains agriculture, fish, wildlife and forests. Yet Strada wants to take that away by needlessly blasting when there is still lots of unused aggregate available. One word...GREED. In this day and age when the World is facing an environmental crisis with global warming and severe weather pattern changes...should we not be trying to conserve as much green space as possible? We definitely shouldn't be taking away the one resource all of us need to survive....and that is access to CLEAN WATER.
