Bill 60 is another example of government over-reach, an attempt by the current government to strip municipalities of their rights.
Bike lanes have been shown to have many benefits, including improving safety on roads (for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians), encouraging cycling use and thus reducing traffic, and benefiting the environment by reducing the amount of cars on the roads. And most importantly, studies have consistently shown that removing cycling lanes worsens traffic congestion.
Our province's municipalities deserve the right to design their own cities, without facing unnecessary bureaucracy. Bill 60 does the exact opposite of this.
