As a year-round cyclist in Toronto, I strongly oppose this proposal. Limiting municipalities from reallocating road space for bike lanes directly undermines public safety and sustainable transportation goals. Toronto’s roads are already unsafe. Drivers are increasingly distracted, fatigued, and aggressive in gridlock.

Modern transportation planning recognizes that safety and efficiency come from diversity of modes, not from prioritizing cars alone. Prohibiting lane reductions will only discourage active transportation, increase emissions, and make roads more dangerous for everyone.

I hope the Province will choose to build a future where all forms of transportation can safely and confidently share our streets.
