I do not want this bill to pass. It strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents. The city knows what is best for the city. It will make roads more dangerous. Protected bike lanes prevent serious injuries and deaths for people biking, walking, and driving. It will make congestion worse because the only option will be to drive since biking will be too dangerous. I currently do not live near bike lanes and do not feel safe to bike, but if protected bike lanes were to be built near me, I would definitely bike.
