I again find it ridiculous that the Ontario government continues to overreach their authority when it comes to how the city of Toronto, alongside municipalities throughout Ontario, function and govern. This bill limits cities’ ability to bring about meaningful change to transportation infrastructure. If the government cares so much about congestion, they should fund public transit and create priority bus only lanes, instead of limiting municipalities’ ability to do so.
Moreover, this over reach from the government that cares about “small business” must realize that programs like the CafeTO program have been extremely successful in increasing restaurants’ and cafes’ capacity during the summer in Toronto. Bill 60 will only prevent these programs from running, therefore hindering small businesses throughout the province.
