Hi there,
I believe that city transportation decisions should be made by the local governments, not by the province. Therefore, I do not support this proposed change.
In urban areas, where a larger majority of residents do not have access to a vehicle and use transit, biking and walking to move around, they should have a say through electing their local counsellor and this local elected government to decide. Just as the residents of Durham or Halton through electing their local counsellors decide how to devote road ways to cars/bike/pedestrians.
In addition, large cities need to be focusing on promoting safe alternative forms of transportation (such as transit, biking and walking) rather than discouraging it. This legislation will not protect individuals that use alternative forms of transportation and will actually lead to longer, unsafe commute times for everyone.
Thank you for considering my comments,
