Bike lanes are important to me. We don't have a car. Instead, my husband, my 9-year-old daughter, and I take our bikes or public transit to get around. We plan our bike routes to take advantage of bike lanes whenever possible (especially protected ones), because they're so much more pleasant than worrying about whether a car is going to pass too closely. More people biking means fewer people driving, so that reduces congestion and helps everyone be healthier. Please let cities make their own decisions about bike lanes!
