I strongly oppose this proposal to restrict municipalities from building bike lanes.
Protected bike lanes have been proven to boost local businesses by increasing foot traffic and making neighborhoods more accessible. They also provide significant health benefits by encouraging active transportation and reducing air pollution from vehicle emissions.
Municipalities should retain the authority to make infrastructure decisions that best serve their residents. This provincial overreach undermines local democracy and ignores the overwhelming evidence supporting cycling infrastructure.
I urge you to reject this proposal and support cities in building safe, sustainable transportation networks.
