I am a new mother of a 7 month old baby boy. Prior to giving birth, I rode my bike from Roncesvalles neighbourhood to my office at Bay and Adelaide every day for work, making the effort to take bike lanes whenever possible. On a number of occasions, while on streets that did not have bike lanes, I have been cut off or even clipped by drivers turning right, those who either could not see me, or did not look.

After maternity leave, I intend to continue riding my bike, but I am scared. I've now got so much more to lose.

Safe and reliable bike lanes are how I make it safely to and from work, supporting my child and family.

I am against Bill 60 because it will make my commute more dangerous. It also threatens other uses of road space that I value and rely on, including public transportation, safe crossings, patios, curbside access, and school streets. Worse, research shows that this will NOT reduce congestion.

I urge the province to reconsider this bill and help to ensure my son and I can enjoy our streets safely.

Thank you for your consideration.
