I am writing in opposition to the measure which prohibits new bicycle lanes which would remove motor vehicle travel lanes. I live in Waterloo, and a few of the regional roads here are planned to have a reduction in motor lanes due to them being far over capacity. As someone who cannot afford a car, a bike is the only way I can efficiently get around the city, and having more bike lanes would allow me to be much safer when doing so. It would also encourage more people to cycle, which would reduce pollution, gridlock, and improve health due to less emissions.
