We've been here before with Bill 212 - which was a similarly harmful piece of legislation. Measures to limit the development of bike lanes are completely antithetical to the forward-looking goals we should have for our communities.
- As has been proven time and again, bike lanes reduce congestion, they do not increase it. This should be reason enough to counter this nonsense bill. (Please see the evidence presented in court case re: Bill 212, which demonstrates that the government studied this very issue and came to this conclusion.)
- A lack of bike lanes puts cyclists at risk of injury and death wherever we ride
- Cars contribute heavily to greenhouse gas emissions. We need to invest in green solutions like bike infrastructure, not bury our heads in the sand
