The proposed changes to the boundaries on Ontario's 36 conservations authorities would completely change the reasons for their existence and success. With the conciliated of the authorities from 36 to 7 it completely removes the idea that the conservation authorities exist to support local communities with some independence. This independence provides conservation authorities the ability to successfully provide services related to watershed management, ecology and, environmental protection. The consolidation of the authorities will make this extremely hard to achieve due to the authorities needing to stretch their resources of extremely large areas. This stretching of resources ruins the local connection to communities who are able to work with the local agencies to achieve environmental restoration, flood management and, recreation opportunities. If they are consolidated there will be a lack of trust from the local communities due to the more corporate appearance. The consolidation would completely ruin the success that the authorities have had in their local communities since their creation.
