As a property tax payer in Markham, I would like our municipalities and the constituents who live in those constituencies to control policies on bike lanes. I believe this bill is reactionary for local congestion issues to larger areas such Toronto or Ottawa but an over reach to include all municipalities in Ontario.
If the province wants to dictate policies effecting local roads, they should also be willing to pay for all local road maintenance and upkeep.
Bike lanes should remain an municipal issue.
