Doug Ford's proposal to expand parks and protected areas in Ontario by a mere ~12,600 hectares is woefully inadequate.
Ontario now protects just 10–11% of its land and freshwater area, while our total land base is about 108 million hectares. The proposed addition represents just a tiny fraction—0.012%—of that area.
If this government is serious about keeping pace with Canada's national pledge to conserve 30% of lands and waters by 2030, we need MUCH bolder conservation goals.
This is coming from the man who try to sell off "Green Space" in southern Ontario to developers without any regard to the horrific consequences that would have occurred. Got to keep an eye on the man every minute or he will be selling off more green space to his "Rich" friends AGAIN!!!
