I am a registered professional forester in the Ontario Professional Foresters Association. I sit on the board of the Quinte Woodlot Association, a chapter of the Ontario Woodlot Association. Our association works closely with Quinte Conservation, our local Conservation Authority. I oppose the plan to consolidate the conservation authorities. There is no good argument in favour of this move. We are happy with our conservation authority, who are just the right size to manage the 30,000 acres of forest and property that they own. Quinte Conservation's forester knows the forests of his area well. consolidation will dilute the ability of the local community to provide quality care of the local forest, waterways and ecosystem. The forests and all their inhabitants: mammals, insects, birds, amphibians and reptiles, deserve protection that the current Conservation Authority framework provides.
