The Goulais River is a key component of a fragile but essential ecosystem in our region. To allow effluent to be pumped into this waterway runs a very real risk of causing an irreversible poisoning of the aquifer that provides potable water to homes downstream of Searchmont. In addition, this pollution poses a significant threat to our region’s fishery and the abundant wildlife populating this area. The Searchmont Ski Resort has other options with which to deal with its sewage and greywater that will not impact our ecosystem. I urge you to consider refusing this application and enforcing the same environmental regulations all other landowners must adhere.
