I have lived in Toronto since 2003 and have always used a bicycle as preferred mode of transportation for commuting and pleasure riding. I have seen the infrastructure improve substantially in the past 20 years, which makes cycling with my children a safer option now, then when they were younger. I bike all over the southern part of the city, from the east end / beaches neighbourhood to the west end / junction and north to about Eglinton on a regular/ daily basis.
Removing bike lanes and / or not installing new ones costs lives and makes commuting for those that want to reduce traffic and pollution less safe.
I call on the government of Ontario to base decision on data and facts, which supports the installation of bike lanes to achieve vision zero, not their removal.
