The province is rushing its latest omnibus through legislation, Bill 60, Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, bypassing committees and shutting down public debate.
Bill 60 is an escalation of Bill 212’s attack on evidence based decision making that would prohibit any municipality in Ontario from reducing motor vehicle lanes to build new bike lanes.
Planned cycling projects like Parkside Drive, Dupont Street, and the Danforth Avenue extension won't be possible if Bill 60 becomes law.
And the wording is so broad that it could block bus priority lanes, patios and cafes, school streets, and other street improvements that rely on reallocating space from cars to people.
