Dear Premier Ford and Team,
I live in Toronto and rely on my bike to get to the office. I was hit by a truck while riding here, and I know first-hand how exposed people on bikes are when streets are designed only for cars.
I am writing to oppose Bill 60. By banning municipalities from converting a car lane into a bike lane, it will freeze the safest and most affordable way to build protected cycling routes. Cities like Toronto depend on lane reconfigurations to add separated bike lanes that prevent collisions, reduce congestion, and give people a real alternative to driving.
Safe bike lanes are good for everyone: they cut traffic for drivers, improve air quality, support climate goals, and make it possible for people who can’t afford a car to still get to work, school, and appointments safely.
Thank you for considering my comments.
James
