I am grateful that the Province of Ontario has proposed to expand the protected areas in Ontario and believe this work will greatly improve ecological resilience to mitigate the impacts of our dual crises - biodiversity loss and climate change. As a community member in South Georgian Bay, I especially applaud the proposed enhanced protection within the Niagara Escarpment area and across the entire Greenbelt area as we cannot continue to place urban sprawl ahead of the ecological systems that we depend on.

I approve of the proposed protected areas and am eager to see how these enhanced protections improve outcomes for species at risk and access to nature.
