SDG Counties does not support the proposal to remove or standardize minimum lot sizes. "Urban residential parcels" includes both parcels in walking distance to major transit stations and rural villages with no transit within 100 km where most households have 2-4 cars. Residents have moved to these communities as an alternative to living in denser environments. It is important to provide room for adequate on and off-site parking, stormwater management, and suitable building envelopes. While many of our local municipalities do not have a minimum dwelling size, new lots should still be able to accommodate a variety of housing types and densities.
