I have been enjoying the Kolapore Wilderness Trails for many years and have been involved in helping to maintain the trail system through the Kolapore Wilderness Trails Association (KWTA). I am supportive of the changes but request the following:
-continued application of the policy that cross-country skiing is the only use on ski trails in winter, this is essential to providing quality skiing. The Kolapore Trails provide a backcountry ski experience that is rare in southern Ontario. If the policy restricting winter use of the Kolapore Trails to skiing cannot be maintained, I would oppose the Conservation Reserve designation.
- continued use of the existing Kolapore Trail blazing, signage and infrastructure that is currently in place
- that KWTA continues to be an active partner in the stewardship of the Kolapore Uplands, and continue to provide services such as maintenance of the trails by volunteers and snowplowing at a parking lot
