I encourage adding the old growth Catchacoma forest Ontario’s protected places. Whatever mechanism is best suited to keep this eastern hemlock forest intact is welcome - an extension of Kawartha Highlands Signature Site Park seems obvious.
There any many reasons to protect old growth - ecosystem resilience and carbon sequestration to indigenous rights. Certainly including it in lands the can be harvested from timber is a comparatively low grade use.
