can think of two very important reasons not to destroy our Old Forests>
1. Biodiversity Conservation
Old forests provide stable, complex habitats that support a wide variety of plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms—many of which cannot survive in younger forests. Protecting these forests helps preserve species diversity and prevent extinctions.
2. Climate Regulation and Carbon Storage
Old forests store large amounts of carbon in their trees and soils, helping reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They also regulate local and regional climates, making them crucial for mitigating climate change.
