The Ontario Alliance of Climbers is writing to provide feedback on ERO 019-9306, specifically with regard to the Kolapore Uplands Conservation Reserve.
The Kolapore Uplands are home to two prominent rock climbing areas that have been enjoyed by climbers for many years, making them prime destinations for climbers in southwestern Ontario. As such, we request that rock climbing be explicitly included in the list of recreational activities enjoyed in the Kolapore Uplands Conservation Reserve (Supplemental Document 019-9306, Section 41), alongside hiking.
The Ontario Alliance of Climbers is a climbing access organization that works with climbers and land managers to ensure ecologically respectful recreation in the outdoors. We have existing relationships with land managers within the Meaford Ecodistrict shared by the Kolapore Uplands and look forward to continuing this relationship under the proposed revisions.
