Regional conservation authorities need to remain the same. There are significant variations in geology, topography, vegetation and conservation concerns throughout southern Ontario. To merge conservation authorities, the unique needs of each unique region will not be met adequately. In the face of climate change and continued urban expansion, conservation of southern Ontarios green areas needs to be a top priority! This will only be feasible if conservation authorities remain stratified, with a reasonable land area to manage.
