I think the consolidation of Ontario conservation authorities is not a good ideal for the following reasons.
1- Essex county is surrounded by water on three sides and there are several major waterways draining into Lake St Clair, Lake Erie and the Detroit River which requires constant observation by ERCA. If this was not local there would be many more problems such as algae bloom, flooding, erosion problems causing damage to property, injuries to wild life and possibly even people.
2- Getting approvals for construction near waterways or low lying properties would have a much longer wait time then it already is, causing frustration for contractors and property owners and when we need more housing as per the government.
3- Looking into tree planting and wind breaks for farmers would become a much longer process which would discourage them from do it.
These are just a few of the concerns and problems that I see would happen if the conservation authorities are consolidated.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express my opinion.
