Good Afternoon,
Why were adjacent private well landowners not given notice about the proposed wastewater treatment system (WWTS)? We were only told about Well A (50,000 gallons/daily) and never told about Well B (300,000 gallons/daily) in 2024. Now we find out about water treatment system this at the 11th hour. This area of Tyendinaga Township has severe drinking water issues that range from dry wells throughout the summer months to sulfur water.

1. Why wasn’t a detailed study of the surrounding private drinking wells done by a consulting firm?
a. Several surrounding neighbors didn’t get a copy of the Permit to Take Water (PTTW) survey or thought it was junk mail, so they never responded.
b. On Enright Road, between Power Road and Read Road, probably 20%-30% of the homes have water delivered or have water totes on trucks and trailers annually between June and October because their wells run dry. One or two landowners each year must pay for a new well to be drilled. Yet, the Ministry of the Environment permits a corporation to withdraw 350,000 gallons/daily and wastewater into the watershed!!!!!!

2. Why wasn’t Tyendinaga Township involved in approving the PTTW and WWTS when they’re fully aware of the summertime water issues in the area?

3. Was MRCA (Moira River Conservation Area) consulted on this permit as the property is nothing but swamp land? They’re stringent on approving where new homes built, I doubt they would have approved.

4. Why were we only informed of Well A on the Survey for 50,000 gallons/daily and nothing mentioned about Well B for 300,000 gallons/daily or the WWTS? It appears the owners of the Corporation are trying to push something illegal through!!!!!

5. Why is the corporation not responsible for water well quality testing and static level testing quarterly, semi-annually or annually? That's part of running a business, so the onus shouldn't be on the landowners.

6. How often is the PTTW and WWTS permits renewed and is a hydrogeological study completed for each renewal?
