The proposal to build the high density transit oriented community at Trafalgar and QEW (Oakville station) is a deeply flawed concept. The current congestion situation at Trafalgar and cross is already extreme, contributing as much as 15 minutes of traffic time just to go from Cornwall to the QEW, which is a 60 second drive without traffic.
The current setup of Trafalgar is not well suited for expansion, with the rail overpass, highway bridge and cross avenue being difficult to expand.
Any version of this plan must be realistic in considering the additional cars and parking added to the area; yes even if it is intended to be a transit centric community.
The idea of creating a transit centric community around this location is legitimate, but needs to be a moderated approach that allows road infrastructure upgrades to be completed simultaneously. Further it must be consistent with town of oakville's vision of well managed density growth.
