I am deeply disappointed by the provincial government’s proposed decision to override Oakville’s local council and the voices of its residents in order to force high-rise developments into our community. This approach disregards thoughtful urban planning and the character of our town, and it raises serious concerns about worsening density, increased traffic congestion, strain on local infrastructure, and the erosion of meaningful municipal decision-making. After supporting this government in the last two elections, this disregard for local input makes it clear that I cannot support them again. Communities like ours deserve respectful consultation and collaborative planning, not unilateral directives that undermine the well-being and livability of our neighbourhoods.
