The proposed notion of merging Conservation Authorities is NOT a good idea. The current system works very well. The idea that focus can be given to a specific area to provide the most necessary support is the best method of governing individual Conservation Authorities. The government of Ontario seems to think that they need to take over everything, including School Boards and Real Estate Boards. The fact that Conservation Areas are managed locally provides the most informed analysis of the needs each Area. I hope the Government of Ontario will re-evaluate this and decide NOT to merge Conservation Authorities in Ontario.
