In regards to ERO #025-1257: I 100% agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO.
This sudden decision to uproot, very well rooted conservation areas (pun-intended) is a VERY BAD decision not just for Ontario, but Canada. Especially after all the Canadian and Indigenous Sovereignty we have fought to conserve our lands, merging tells me we are about to lose it.
I am deeply concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. It would be absolutely devastating for this merge to pass, and I would not be surprised to see developers wanting this to pass, so they can further destroy our green belt.
I grew up in Halton Region and have watched the rivers grow smaller, as I grew taller. All the forests and farms I used to walk for fresh foods don’t exist anymore. They built sobeys, and metros on top of perfectly good soil while claiming it was ruined before they ruined the land.
This is our one chance to make sure we protect the lands from capitalist, money hungry vultures who have not studied nature enough to know their lives depend on conservation efforts, not merging for money.
Please consider the HCAs submission as the only reliable, and factually accurate reasons for not supporting this merge. After reading their submission, if the government does not support this, it is openly going against the entire countries wants and needs for a better future.
