I do not agree with the presented statements on the benefits of amalgamation. Currently our community has an excellent relationship with LTVCA. The personnel are very knowledgeable and responsive to our local environmental issues and priority needs. The new proposed structure sets up another arms length working environment with the local region and added bureaucratic levels which has greater susceptibility to government interference. The concern over lack of provincial standards across the current conservation areas can be resolved without an over reaction of amalgamation. Historically evidence has identified that “bigger” is not always “better”. The creation of yet another large bureaucratic organization is not how I want my tax dollars invested.
