I oppose the merging of Conservation Authorities and agree with the submission made by the Hamilton Canservation Authority.
Conservation authorities are all about local decision making and local control - the more local the authority the more they know the REAL needs of the lands and communities that they serve.
Centralizing authority and power in a large out of touch body will mean that more bad decisions will be made - why ? - because you are creating more and more bureaucracy, more layers of bureaucracy that will make the top level decision makers out of touch with the reality on the ground.
Also, there is a very powerful logic to having CA's based upon watershed management boundaries. Decisions made in one watershed will not affect another watershed. But if you centralize authorities over many watersheds, then how do you know that what is good for one watershed is good for all watersheds ?
Im oppose the merger of Conservation Authorities,
